Design: MOMENT Inc.
Recent store designs in Japan by Hisaaki Hirawata and Tomohiro Watabe, who established MOMENT Inc. in 2005. Their projects are wide-ranging as graphic, product, interior, and architecture.
Hirawata and Watabe attempt to suggest strong design-message which is not compressed in a category.
"2D and 3D is an equal theme to every kinds of design project".

Shop Theme
The concept of 24 is a convenience store which deals in many kinds of merchandise. As a convenience store, 24 mixes all sorts of ISSEY MIYAKE brands, therefore the customers are able to enjoy various ISSEY MIYAKE goods at the same time in a casual atmosphere. As a convenience store is filled with lots colors and goods, it is also important for 24 to be a live and happy store so that the customers can drop in the store. The hanger rails and display cases are not essential for this store, but the packaging holds a key to the success of the store design because each good’s colors itself build the store. The transparent spheres wrap the goods, and they are displayed in many places inside the store. They involve the stocks, that is to say, not only that the storage space can be narrowed but also that the contents would attract the interest of many people. The sphere packaging suggests a new way of display, not as usual hanging or folding. If all the merchandise would disappear in a convenience store, the space must be also vanished. The same for 24, it is attempted to let only the merchandise clearly appear. The white colored store works moderately for the merchandise, however the edge of the partitions is only multi-colored to embody the colorfulness of 24’s goods. These parts harmonize with the colorful display. Needless to say, the pivot is the merchandise, therefore the structure is planned as slender as possible.

Shop Theme
24 ISSEY MIYAKE is a small multi-brands store, selling all sorts of ISSEY MIYAKE goods, in which the merchandise is controlled based on the season or the location of the store. Accommodating for the ease of the frequent changes was the starting point for the design while supporting the brand's fresh identity was equally important. They always need to replace the display to show the freshness to customers. However, even if the flexible function is well designed especially for the store, it tends not to be used effectively because of a daily busyness. The function design should be as simple as possible for anybody, therefore the number’s system is selected as the easiest way. Also the remote control of display is possible for the head office by telling the number on each rectangular panel to the shop staff. As these panels can be easily open and close, this store makes use of them, and consists of only simple elements. The numbers on the one hundred panels also remind us of the brand name, 24. Sometimes, we designer should consider the management more. The easy and useful design is linked to a liveliness of the store.
